I have lived near this area for about 14 years now and have gotten all the caches in this park. I typically bring my friends and new cachers here to grab the caches in here. The terrain swings from a flat or gentle sloping paved walkway to 3.5 high gravel and dirt cliffs to river crossings. I love Veteran's Park... could it just be the caches or is it what the park stands for? I hold a special place for the Military, Veteran's in particular. The Military has been in my life since my life started, I am a proud Army Brat. I too have served in Iraq and I love the freedoms that are afforded to us by those who serve unselfishly. Think about the people who protect our freedoms as you walk through this course.
Speaking of COURSE, this is also home of a Disc Golf (Frisbee Golf) course so watch for flying things and golfers. The reflectors are all single, mostly bright white Firetacks until you reach GZ. There you will see two "eyes" up on a tree with a yellow triangle reflector nearby. Please use stealth as geocachers are not the only folks in the area and I'd like the cache to stay here awhile. When you get to the start, shine your flashlights North to Northeast to see the next reflector... continue seeking reflectors, if you don't see one, move forward about 10' and look again, you should be able to see the next reflector within a step or two of the last one. Also, on the paved path areas, the reflectors are quite a distance apart so be sure to use a BRIGHT STRONG flashlight. 150 -- 200 Lumens should do it. The terrains starts out easy 1.0 but it gets to 3.0 so if your body cannot handle 3.0 then take a pass on this one.
I hope you enjoy this NIGHT Cache, bring the kids if they are sure footed, maybe a walking stick and a very bright flashlight. Water of course is also recommended. There are areas of the trail that would be very slick during and after a rainfall, I would not do this in the rain. Wait for the ground to dry out first. Have fun!
Congratulations to NinjaR for FTF!!!
