This cache is a small/medium sized container hidden at the site of Bramcote Hall.
It can be accessed from numerous different directions, e.g. from Bramcote village (King George's park), Common Lane (where the Scouts' annual fireworks are held), Bardill's Nursery as well as Stapleford (via a bridge across the A52).
We recently discovered that the woodland above the Scout's fireworks site off common lane is the site of Bramcote Hall. The Hall was owned by Smith, the banker, then turned into a prep-school before being demolished in the 1960s. See related webpage for more details and some pictures.
The grassland and woods are freely accessible, as long as the conditions for access are followed - as stated on the University of Nottingham signs that are put up on all access points.
The cache is hidden by the old garden wall. Some scrambling through bramble may be required depending on the season. We have tested it with 5-7 year old kids, who think it is great fun. We wanted to share this great location with others, and decided to hide our first cache here.
It is great fun to explore the woods and clearing. Sandstone steps and walls are still visible in places, although most of it is now being reclaimed by nature. A great nature 'playground' with trees to climb, grassy slopes to roll down etc...
