This will be a water accessible cache due to the only land access being trespassing across a train trestle thus the 4.5 rating. It is meant to be done by watercraft.
Extra co-ordinate provided for parking and put in.
WARNING DANGEROUS WATERS
This Island can be reached from Chippawa Creek to the East or from the Welland River to the west but the South shore is the only place you can land a watercraft. The other two sides of this triangular Island are off limits to boats. Also this area is not recommended for Kids or dogs who may wander into the dangerous waters.
The Welland River used to flow East all the way to the Niagara River and empty just above Niagara Falls. This changed when the Hydro Electric Facilities were constructed. The section of river between this cache and the Niagara River was dredged and deepened reversing the flow and diverted into the large hydro channel you now see flowing to the North.
The cache itself is a large camouflaged paintball tube. Please wedge it back into place. There is a free Garmin handheld GPS for FTF! Batteries not included :)
