A cache hidden on the Stellenbosch mountain, at a place where you can rest, eat something or take shelter from the rain. GZ is roughly a 300m walk from the peak. The cache hosts beautiful views of the neighbouring towns, as well as a view of False Bay and Table Mountain.
I placed this cache together with Kasimani, after an "easy stroll" up the mountain. We had so much energy left, that we decided to make a shelter, so it could be used by other cachers coming up this same route. We ate our spinach, drank our Red Bull and got to work. A couple of hours later and we had a large rock, weighing a few tons, lying on the "smaller" support beams. Ok, maybe the above story is not entirely true, but hey, it was worth a try? The real story is that I have seen this interesting landmark a few times online, so I decided I would have to place a cache at this great location. GZ looks almost like a decoy of Stonehenge, and it is visible from Stellenbosch!
The trail to the cache is fairly obvious, but at times you might miss it. The round-trip, from the car park and back, will take you ~5 hours without stops.
Getting there:
From the Parking coordinates walk towards the "hangbrug", which you will have to cross, unless you want to get your feet wet. Turn right, and you will walk past houses on either side of you. Continue walking up the 4x4 track, and head towards Reference Point 1. Nearby Reference Point 1, there is a single-track going up the mountain. This trail will eventually lead you to the cache (and summit).
