Trainspotting Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Southerntrekker: This cache has been in need of care and maintenance for some time and as the owner has not repaired/replaced it, I am archiving it.

Guidelines: "You are responsible for occasional visits to your cache to maintain proper working order, especially when someone reports a problem with the cache (missing, damaged, wet, etc.). You may temporarily disable your cache to let others know not to search for it until you have a chance to fix the problem. This feature is to allow you a reasonable amount of time - normally a few weeks - in which to check on your cache. If a cache is not being maintained, or has been temporarily disabled for an unreasonable length of time, we may archive the listing."

If you wish to replace this cache a new listing will now need to be created. Caches are not unarchived due to a lack of maintenance. Please do not e-mail me.

Geocache Description:

An easy cache - the hardest part is avoiding unwanted muggle attention.  Large enough for geocoins and trackables.

Finsbury Park was one of the first of the great London parks laid out in the Victorian era.  It was once the site of a large expanse of forest called Hornsey Wood, but in the Middle Ages it was cut further and further back for use as grazing land.  In the mid-18th century a tea room opened on the knoll of land on which Finsbury Park is situated.  Londoners would travel north to escape the smoke of the capital and enjoy the last remains of the old Hornsey Wood.  In 1841 the people of Finsbury petitioned for a park to alleviate conditions of the poor.  Despite some considerable local opposition, it was formally opened in 1869.  Nearby Finsbury Park Station, an interchange for tube, rail and bus lines, is named for the park.

In this particular location in Finsbury Park you can glimpse a train rumbling along on the other side of a stretch of trees.  I spotted one while planting this cache.  There is a high level of muggle activity in this area, so choose your moment carefully.  The cache itself is a bit off the beaten track, however, so hopefully it won't attract too much attention.
