Een menhi(e)r in Lelystad... ?
Obelix mag het zware werk doen...
Menhir is de naam die wordt gegeven aan een rechtopstaande grote steen. De naam is afkomstig uit het Bretons: "men" betekent steen en "hir" betekent hoog. Zo'n steen is niet altijd enorm groot; vele zijn slechts een meter hoog. Waarom de menhirs zijn geplaatst, is niet met zekerheid te zeggen. Maar ze zijn te vinden over de hele wereld. Historici van tegenwoordig suggereren dat ze gebruikt werden als merksteen ( om bijvoorbeeld een speciale plaats te herdenken of een gebied af te bakenen.), enorme grafzuilen, kalenders of als Druïdische offerplekken.
Menhirs werden behalve los (Monolieten) in het landschap ook in steencirkels (Megalieten) geplaatst bv. Stonehenge.

Wat is dit?
vraagteken Op één van onze fietstochten kwamen wij langs een opvallend object. Natuurlijk zijn we even gestopt om dit object nader te bekijken. Wat deed dit ding hier? Terwijl we ons dit afvroegen kwam er iemand voorbij die ons uitlegde waarom dit object daar stond.

Wij kennen nu het ware (?) verhaal maar we zijn benieuwd naar jullie mening (feit or fictie) en natuurlijk lezen we die graag in jullie logje.

Goulvar menhir
A Menhir is a large upright standing stone. The name is a combination of two words found in the Breton language; men "stone" and hir"long". Their size can vary considerably, most are just one meter long. No one is quite sure what their purpose is, but many have been found all around the world. Modern historians hypothesize that they act as boundary markers, enormous grave stones, calendars or even as the sites of Druidic sacrifices.
Menhirs can stand alone (monolithic) or in circular groups (megaliths), as seen at Stonehenge.

What's this?
Questionman On one of our bike rides we came across a salient object. Of course we stopped to have a closer look at this object. Why was this object here? While we were still wondering, a passer-by came over and explained to us why this object was there.
We now know the truth (?) but we are curious about your story (fact or fiction) and of course we'd like to read it in your log.
