The Tomcat, or Grumman F4F, was named to reflect a potent fighter. This ‘carrier kitten’ was used as an important Ally weapon by the US Navy, the British Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm, and the French Navy during WW2.

She may not have been the fastest in the air but what she lacked in speed she made up in all other areas. This little scrapper could take a hit, go farther using less gas, and was the first to have retractable landing gear.
