Geocache Description:

Welcome to Lake Wichita Park

Lake Wichita Park is a large 234 acre park located on the north shore of Lake Wichita. Within the park itself is a 2.6 mile concrete hike and bike trail that runs from the southern tip of the park at Fairway Avenue to the dam on the lake. The trail continues northward all the way to Lucy Park. There are public restrooms, a modular playground, basketball goals, drinking fountains, and many picnic areas.

The park has a large reservable picnic shelter with 10 picnic tables that will seat approximately 60 people. There are also 2 lighted baseball fields, 2 lighted softball fields, 3 lighted football fields, and an 18 hole disc golf course. Lake Wichita Park has the only model airplane landing strip in the park system. The park is also the location of the new Off-Leash Dog Park.

Getting this cache is a walk in the park – literally. From the parking lot, you'll head down a well maintained and sometimes scenic walking trail that we here in “The Falls” are very proud of. If you're quiet and pay attention, you might even see some of the Parks wildlife before they run off in to the brush (for a more unusual resident, see the photo below). All in all it is a long but enjoyable walk, with a reward at the half way point. I say halfway because you do have to walk back. Here's what you do:

First you'll need to get the cartridge. You can either click the link on the "Related Web Page" section above, or you can go to the Wherigo Website and enter the zip code 76310. Since it's Wichita Falls' first one, it won't be hard to find. Download the module, load it up on your preferred Whereigo device (mine is my smart phone), and come take a stroll by the lake. Follow the directions, and you'll have a smiley to show for it. Now how cool is that???

Congratulations to Shelle518 for FTF!

Additional Hints (Decrypt)

[For those of you (like myself) that have old school GPSr's, you can use the WhereYouGo app for android, and WherPiGo for the iPhone. Just download the "Pocket PC" version of the cartridge and put it in the file folder of whichever app you use, and it should pop right up.] [corrected final coords end in 699/143. If you get different numbers, please let me know. Email here or Zatahra@gmx.com]
