One of the most unique things about the hobby of geocaching is that it is an activity we create for each other. Our experiences are only as good as the caches that are created, the trackables and swag that are traded, and the logs that are written for each other. This event is meant to honor all of those people who: create and maintain high quality caches in great locations; design creative cache listings and puzzles; host fun events; craft, launch and move beautiful and interesting trackables; trade awesome swag; and compose well-written logs (even for DNF’s) that are entertaining, as well as informative.
We will be meeting upstairs at the Shops at Ithaca Mall food court on Sunday 3/30/14 from 1:00 to 2:30. The posted coordinates are for the entrance to the mall which takes you to the food court. (Go down the long white hallway and around to the left.) The stairway will be found across the food court between Asaki and Subway. Food and drink are available but no purchase is required.
Activities will include lots of meeting and greeting, an informal getting-to-know you game for those interested, a raffle of donated items (please contact teamajk with your donations) and recognition certificates. Everyone who logs a “will attend” note by 3/28 will be eligible for a recognition certificate based on their geocaching statistics as of that date. If there is a cacher you feel deserves a special recognition, please contact teamajk with the details.
Inexperienced cache makers/hider are welcome! There should be plenty of people to answer your questions about how to obtain or make containers, how to write a listing, and how to choose a good location. We hope that this event will inspire lots of great new caches in the coming months. If interest warrants, this may be the first of a series monthly events in the area devoted to different topics. April's theme: An Introduction to Geocaching Puzzles.
