Geocache Description:

A small bison tube placed on a footpath near a house called Sparrowthorn - no room for a pen

Ever since Poohsmate placed his Sparrowthorn cache (GC4K8PR), I've been intrigued by his story of wild parties and the BBC documentary supposedly filmed there.  A bit of Googling suggested that it was an unauthorised film called "The Cotswold Rooster" made by Bob Edwards - the wild man of the 1960s BBC arts programme "Late Night Lineup" hosted by Joan Bakewell. Edwards was known for his wild behaviour including spiking his manager's birthday cake with drugs. Apparently the film resides in the BBC's Restricted Vault, never to be transmitted. What on earth did it contain? Was this sleepy Cotswold village a hotbed of 1960s liberalism and debauchery? Further research names the Rooster, although I'll not publish the name for fear of libelling someone! A fire wrecked the 1832 cottage in the 1970s and it was rebuilt incorporating the barn which was originally built by Italian Prisoners of War.

None of which has any real bearing on the cache which I placed on the spur of the moment when walking up the path towards the road (when I placed it the path was actually a stream!) If you have any more information about the history of this intriguing house and its previous occupants, please add it to your logs.
