Adam Smith says: "No TOTTs!" Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

rurbonas: I found the cache almost 15m from its posted coordinates. This isn't the first time it's been broken, and it's frustrating to only find out about it from later finders, so as much as I wanted to keep this one alive, I'm archiving it.

With this one gone, I'll be archiving the rest of my caches shortly.

How Geocaching Works

Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer.

Geocache Description:

This cache consists of a log in a 35mm film canister inside a larger outer container. Finding the outer container should be absolutely no problem for anyone who can reach the posted coordinates; the challenge is all in the extraction.

No TOTTs are required to extract the inner container; everything you need is provided for you. If you think you need to break, poke, improvise, shove, cram, snap, cut or otherwise mangle things to get it, you need to change your approach.

Approaching this cache can only be done from the river side of the dike, so do NOT enter the University's fields on your approach. The fences there are up for a reason and even if you choose to ignore that, approaching from the other side will leave the container well out of reach.

A note enclosed in the container explains how to reset things when finished. Please make sure that everything is back the way you found it when you leave so the cache will stay in good shape and the next cacher will find things the way they're supposed to be. Whichever end(s) you choose to open, finger-tightening is what you should be going for when you close them again, particularly on the smaller plug which intentionally does not screw in all the way. No tools are necessary for getting at the internal container, but bringing a wrench might be wise for getting the outer container open if it's been particularly frosty.

I wanted to try my hand at making gadgety caches, but didn't want to get too deep into buying supplies until I developed some basic skills. This one is a play on a popular design that I've seen online. If this cache works out, I will try to expand my reach for future attempts. A big part of my decision will be based on how quickly this one gets broken.
