On May 30, 1967, seven years before the Vietnam War ended, a local community organization in Calumet City called the Gold Coast Manor Improvement Association, built a memorial dedicated to the veterans of both Korean and Vietnam. Historically, this is the first memorial honoring the Vietnam Veterans. This monument is a daily reminder of the debt we owe to all of the veterans who served and all of the veterans who died for our great country.
This particular memorial has a special place in my heart, as my Dad is a Korean War Veteran and my Hubby is a Vietnam War Veteran.
