Geocache Description:

This is an old school letterbox.  You will be looking for a plastic ammo can in the woods, but you will not have the final coordinates.  It is hidden in an ordinary fashion - nothing devious.

Follow the directions below to find the cache.  If you follow the directions carefully you shouldn't have any trouble finding it.

Please be sure to rehide the cache at least as good as you found it so that it doesn't get muggled!

This cache is in the Game Lands.  Be sure to follow all Game Land rules and regulations, and wear orange during hunting season.  Avoid this cache during deer season!!!

  • Since this is a letterbox-hybrid there is a stamp and an ink pad in the container.  It is NOT swag.  Please leave them in the container.
  • If you collect letterbox stamps go ahead and stamp your book.  The log book is large enough for you to stamp it with your stamp if you have one, but it is not required.

OK, here we go.  Follow the directions below and you should end up at the cache

  • From the posted coordinates take the trail south past the gamelands sign.
  • At about 400' past the sign you will reach a small clearing.  At the start of the clearing turn right.
  • Walk the short distance to the end of the clearing.  (Just before you enter the woods you should see a gnarly looking tree about 50' to your right).
  • Mark this point on your GPS.
  • Project a point 450' at a bearing of 245 degrees.  Head toward this point.
  • When you get to the new point you should be able to find a distinctive tree.  The tree has two trunks that are each a foot or more in diameter.  One of the trunks splits into two more at about 10' off the ground.
  • Look at the base of this tree.
