Blountsville is one of the smallest towns along the Cardinal Greenway, with a 2010 census of 134 people. It is home to the local Volunteer Fire Department and the polling place for Stoneycreek Township. The town's name is from the original land owner, Andrew Blount. At one time it was a more vibrant town with a grain elevator, school, post office, several churches, grocery and hardware store.
Just south of the cache, on the west side of the trail, there is a big lot which used to house the grain elevator and associated buildings. In 2014 that area was one of the staging areas for the wind farm in Randolph County. The place was full of huge pipes that would make up the base of the poles supporting the wind turbines and had 24/7 security on the premises. That project was finished and the lot is once again empty. It is not public property.
Cache is a camouflaged matchsafe container. You only need to unscrew the bottom of container to remove the log. If you do remove the entire thing, please reattach as found. Bring your own pen. Let me know if the cache needs a new log or other owner maintenance. Please log dnfs so I'll know if the cache needs to be checked.
