From 28th March to 7th April 2014 a series of events are happening around the world focussed on setting geocaches. While a lot of the events I have seen are about making crafty hides there are not many that are about setting puzzle caches. And I think the community could do with a few more puzzles to solve!
This is an event with a difference. The evening will start with a sharing of ideas. I will share information about one of the more common ciphers and how to solve it: the Vigenère. I then want you to get creative and come up with a good puzzle that will lead to a set of coordinates.
We will then, as a group, vote on the best puzzle, and this will be the puzzle used for the geocache that will be submitted for publication after the event. I will take you through the various steps required to set a puzzle cache, including things you should consider and some of the pitfalls along the way.
I will then submit the geocache for publication, using the puzzle agreed on by the group.
The event will be at the 9th Aylesbury Scout Hut, Oakfield Road, Aylesbury, HP20 1LJ on Monday 31st March from 7.30 to 9.30pm.
The venue is a scout hut. Chairs and tables will be provided, but please bring your own brain, pen and paper, and refreshments. And cake. No event is complete without cake.
There is lots of free parking available at the scout hut, and the venue is wheelchair accessible. Please post a will attend log so that we know how many we are expecting.
