Geocache Description:

It's amazing how many times that you can drive by a spot without noticing something. I have driven through this interection without noticing a lonely grave stone in the corner of this field without noticing it until earlier this week. After noticing it I decided to get out and look at it. After looking at the grave, I decided that the area needed a cache.

The stone marks the final resting place of Horace McCrary. McCrary served in a regiment known as the 109th US colored troops. The regiment was an infantry unit composed entirely of colored troops. The Regiment was mustered into service at Louisville, KY in July of 1864. The regiment was assigned to the army of the Potomac and saw action as places like Richmond and Petersburg. They were were even at Appomattox Courthouse for the surrender of Lee. For a full recount of the regiments history you can click on the related web page link. You are looking for a small magnetic container hidden in typical fashion. It contains a log only so bring your own writing instrument.
