Greatland Reviewer: Hello emmacamille:

This cache page has been archived due to the lack of response to one or more prior Reviewer Note(s) about issue(s) with the cache. If you would like to have the cache unarchived, please contact me through my profile as soon as possible before another cache gets placed nearby.

Please note that unarchiving a cache page requires it to go through the same review process as a newly proposed cache, using the cache placement guidelines currently in effect.

Geocache Description:

Nordic House is tucked into the north side of campus, which is mostly residential housing.  Stop in to say hello, or make this a quick park and grab.  Should be accessible year round. I am making this a pin exchange cache - so please leave one if you take one!

When Nordic House on Columbia Circle opened in 1989, it was the first Nordic House in the United States. The residence, a partnership with the Scandinavian Writers Association and UAF, provided housing for visiting artists and writers from Norway, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, the Faroe Islands, Iceland and Greenland. Currently it serves as the location for the Office of Diversity and Equal Opportunity.

Nordic houses exist in the northern countries of Norway, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, the Faroe Islands, Iceland and Greenland to share information and culture in the hopes of fostering a coalition among Nordic cultures. The main goal of the facility is to serve as a link between Alaska’s Nordic population and other Nordic countries.
