Geocache Description:

SOTOBORI

It is the park which is slim in the east and west opening along Kanda River of the south slope of the Sekiguchi plateau.This downstream intersect an outside moat of edo castle, and flow into the Sumida River.
Now this river is called "Kanda river", but it  was called  "Edogawa" around here from Edo period Until about 1965.
There is almost a Kanda water supply intake Oarai weir mark in the vicinity of the center and the Otaki bridge in the garden.
Next to the park there is "chinzanso"(one of famous marriage ceremonial hall),"sekiguchi ann"(The place of Basho Matsuo connection ),"New edogawa park"(The daimyo garden of a splendid scene),so please enjoy walk.

江戸川公園 関口台地の南斜面の神田川沿いに広がる東西に細長い公園です。 今では”神田川”ですが、江戸時代から昭和40年頃まで、このあたりは”江戸川”呼ばれていました。下流にいくと外堀と交差し隅田川へと流れ込んでいきます。
春になると、改修時に植樹された桜が一面に咲きみだれて沢山の見物客が訪れるところでもあります。 園内のほぼ中央、大滝橋付近には、神田上水取水口大洗堰跡があります。
また、隣接して結婚式場として有名な椿山荘と、若き日の松尾芭蕉が神田上水の整備を手がけた時に住んでいた関口芭蕉庵や熊本細川家の藩邸跡である新江戸川公園などもあるので散策を楽しんでください。
