Drake's Seat is named after Sir Francis Drake, the famous English sailor. He is known for being an exceptional sailor and the first Englishman to sail around the globe in 1577. He is also known to have been a fierce pirate, having looted numerous Spanish ships. The Spaniards called him "The Dragon" and issued a reward of the equivalent of 6.5 million dollars for his head.
Although it is unlikely that Sir Francis Drake ever sat upon this hill, there is a bench here that looks out over the "Sir Francis Drake Passage", named in his honor.

Nice "needlework" on the divan
The passage passes towards the northeast through the British Virgin Islands.

Even today, this passage remains a favorite spot for sailors. This overlook also commands a great view of Magens Bay Beach (listed as among the Top 10 Beaches of the World) and both the lookout and/or the beach are included on virtually all island tours.

This cache will be easy to nab for cruisers visiting our island for only a day. The hardest part will be making the grab, and return, inconspicuously - there are almost always lots of people around and we don't want this cache to be muggled. The container is on a leash, simply remove the log and pencil, sign at your leisure and then replace in the container. Please return everything as found.
Enjoy the view, post a picture and earn a US Virgin Island smilie!!!
