Geocache Description:

This is an old school letterbox.  You will be looking for a plastic ammo can in the woods, but you will not have the final coordinates.  It is hidden in an ordinary fashion - nothing devious.

Follow the directions below to find the cache.  If you follow the directions carefully you shouldn't have any trouble finding it.

Please be sure to rehide the cache at least as good as you found it so that it doesn't get muggled!

This cache is in the Game Lands.  Be sure to follow all Game Land rules and regulations, and wear orange during hunting season.  Avoid this cache during deer season!!!

  • Since this is a letterbox-hybrid there is a stamp and an ink pad in the container.  It is NOT swag.  Please leave them in the container.
  • If you collect letterbox stamps go ahead and stamp your book.  The log book is large enough for you to stamp it with your stamp if you have one, but it is not required.

OK, here we go.  Follow the directions below and you should end up at the cache

This cache is a little tougher than the others in this series because there are no trails to follow anywhere along the way.  Good luck, and have fun.

  • From the posted coordinates project a point 250' at a bearing of 131.5 degrees.
  • Proceed to the new coordinate.
    • At this point you should be at a large, old tree.  It should be the northmost of 3 large trees that are in a line going approximately north - south.
  • At this point project a point 560' at a bearing of 85 degrees. Head to that new point. (Note, if you go too far south you might walk out of the gamelands onto private property. Watch for markings on the trees. You should have no reason to leave the gamelands).
  • At this point you should be at a large elbow tree.  (look up)
  • At this point turn left, and walk along the top of the ridge.  You should see several large, old trees on your left as you are walking.
  • At about 175' you should see a large rock on the ground.  Stop here.
  • Look to your right.  You should be looking down the hill.  You will see a large tree with the trunk snapped off.
  • Walk down and check where the trunk hits the ground.  Be sure to rehide the cache well so it doesn't get muggled.
