While I was out placing a series of cache's today, I decided to go to my parent's for a visit. As I was leaving my parent's home to head to Casper, I drove by this area and though "Hey, I should drive down here." Once I got there, memories started to come back. As a child growing up in the area, the neighborhood children called this area that the cache is at the "fishing hole." This area, we spent many hours, days, and nights here exploring, playing, fishing, swimming, building forts and in the winter, there were games of hockey and ice skating races. As we got older, we spent time here camping, shooting our .22's, hunting, and doing more "grown up" things here.
The depression that you see where the cache is at used to be filled with many trees and willows. Now as the children of my age when I was a child are all grown up, the land has changed a little but most of the trees have been removed and many of our own children come here but mostly in the form of an ATV and on occasion, via horse. This place, even as small as it looks was a large area for us and it holds a large place in my heart and mind of many childhood memories. How times flies when you look back into your life and visit places of the past. While it may not be much now, I thought that this would be a good place to put a cache and to share with you a piece of personal history. I hope you enjoy the story and the cache!
