Geocache Description:

At the time of placement, two caches already exist on this very long platform, click here and here. Take a moment to view the difference (width) between the now defunct Broad Gauge rail and the standard gauge.


This cache is a simple off set multi that focus’ on the history of the platform.  To determine the location of GZ, go to the information board at the starting co-ordinates and identify the answers to the following where:

GZ:         South    36°05.ABC
               East    146°55.DEF
  1. Opening of the Albury to Wodonga link, ADth June.
  2. The station played an important role in moving troops and goods around Australia during which World War = B
  3. The painting by Geoffery Mainwaring was painted in 1C43.
  4. By the 1850’s the E British colonies of Australia were fiercely independent…
  5. First standard gauge passenger train Sydney to Melbourne, 3 January 196F.

 The cache is a short distance away, at no point do you need to go on or near the tracks, please obey the signs and instructions of the platform for obvious safety reasons.  As such children should be closely monitored and remain on the centre of the platform well within the pylons – DO NOT CROSS THE PAINTED LINE.
