This geocache was originally placed in 2014, but was muggled. It has since been moved and COMPLETELY changed. This iconic home on the Eastbourne shore is affectionately referred to by locals as "The Ark" is now 5 years old. It was featured in the magazine "InHouse" and has some very unique features. Designed by well-known Wellington "green" architect Alex Grieg and built by Ross Flowerday of RD Builders, the house does not have a single right angle. It has ultra high density insulation and arguably is the best insulated house in NZ. Every room in the house is maintained at a steady 20 to 22 degrees using solar heated hot water to provide the underfloor heating. Heating bills are minimal. All the lighting is LED and the home features hand carved doors and interiors as well as several leaded glass windows, depicting Earth, Wind, Fire and Water (Fire is visible from the street on its north side). The house is right on the beachfront, with outstanding views of the harbour and the Wellington skyline. Marine Parade is popular with people out for a stroll on the beach, cyclists and joggers. Finding the cache, therefore, may be a bit of a challenge as this is a highly muggled area. Please respect the delicate beach flora. You will need your own pencil.
