Welcome to Yellowwellys Yomp, a simple circuit of 25 geocaches. The route is just under 3 ½ miles long, along tracks. There are three other caches on route , if you haven’t already got them, and another not too far away, but that will extend your route. There is also a nearby mystery to be solved.
Hachi : A Dogs Tale was a film starring Richard Gere, released in 2009. It is roughly based on a true story about Hachiko, a Japanese Akita.
Hachiko was born in 1923, on a farm near Odate. In 1924 he went to live with Hidesaburo Ueno, a professor at the University of Toyko.
Everyday Hachiko would meet his owner at the end of the day near Shibuya Station. This carried on until May 1925, when the Professor didn’t return. The Professor had a hemorrhage and passed away, never returning to the train station. Every day for nine years, Hachiko would be waiting at the station when the train was due to arrive, waiting for his master.
Other commuters soon started to notice Hachiko, bringing him treats and food.
Hachiko passed away on 8th March 1935, on a street in Shibuya.
