This building was erected in 1914 at a cost of $50,000.00. It boasted the most modern conveniences such as steam heat, electric lights, drinking fountains, a gym, and inside toilets! The last graduating class from this building was in 1947. From 1948 thru 1993 the Cameron School District utilized the building for a variety of grades and classes.

In 1920 the Geological Society placed a survey marker on the southwest corner of the building near the foundation. This marker indicates the highest point in Cameron at the time, 1039 feet above sea level. Later, the U.S.G.S. established a monument benchmark near the curb in the southwest part of the lot. It’s purpose is as a vertical and horizontal contact point for surveyors in the area. This marker is still used by surveyors today and is part of a nationwide grid of official geological markers.
