Excavation construction of Shidare-Yousui began in 1887.
It provides water to farmland of Toyota City and the surrounding area.
The long-distance construction through the bumpy field has been
extremely difficult.
But by virtue of tremendous toil of farmers and Sinzo Nishizawa, donated
all his money,
finally the main waterways were completed in 1894.
By this Kago-gawa siphon, Shidare-Yosui reaches the opposite bank
through under the riverbed
of Kago-gawa, Yahagi River tributary.

明治20年(1888年)に開削が始まった枝下用水は、農業の盛んな豊田市とその周辺を潤しています。
起伏の多い山野をめぐる長大な工事は困難を極めましたが、
私財を擲った西澤真蔵、そして農民たちの多大な辛苦によって、
明治27年(1895年)に漸くその主要部分が完成しました。
この篭川サイフォンは、矢作川支流の篭川の川底を潜り、対岸に疎水を通すための施設です。
