Caffeine is a chemical substance that crosses the blood-brain barrier acting as a stimulant. It reduces physical fatigue and makes one more mentally alert. Too much caffeine can make one restless, anxious and irritable as well as causing sleep problems. Physical dependence or addiction may happen and if you don’t get your “fix”, you may undergo withdrawal symptoms. Some religions prohibit the use of caffeine due to its psychoactive and addictive properties. Caffeine is probably the most popular drug in America.
