~~Snicklesnackle.
In many cultures around the world Mythical, man like creatures are found. The Himalayas have the Yeti, North America has the Big Foot and the Chupacabras (Goat sucker), The Yorkshire Wolds is no exception with the Snicklesnackle. It lives in the many small woods dotted around the rolling countryside, travelling by night it hugs the shadowy hedgerows as it slinks from place to place. Rarely seen, it is said to resemble a woodland version of Jack Frost with bark like leathery skin and spindly stick like fingers for snatching its prey. Some say he is dressed in black rags while other reports have him with black feathers to his back. There are very few reports of attacks on humans but since the extinction of wolves and wild boar in these parts, it has been known to take naughty children and small yappy type dogs. If you are ever in the woods alone and all seems too quiet, lookout he could be sneaking up behind you. If you then hear the loud crack of a broken branch just run!
There are no known natural predators of the Snicklesnackle other than the Snodgrobblin. The Snodgrobblin is a curmudgeonly, fiercely territorial type of Witch that likes nothing better than to snare a Snicklesnackle for it's supper. Snodgrobblins tend to be short and stock in appearance and like to pass them selves off as female humans. They can be easily distinguished by their poor dress sense and ill fitting attire which is often worn far too small. Since the dark ages villages have often tolerate a Snodgrobblin living amongst them despite their unpleasant nature and bad odour to ward off the Snicklesnackles attacks on children and livestock. The village hall was built on the burial ground of the last (known) Snodgrobblin.
