Royal parking Hasselt

This cache is places on at the parking of the Koningin Astridlaan. The Swedish born Queen Astrid was a Belgian royal which was rather popular until her tragic death in 1935¹, several streets and landmarks bear her name. This includes this parking lot in the center of Hasselt. Until August 2013 the parking lot was in a bad condition, but after a thorough renovation of two weeks the tarmac is of good quality and the parking lot has regained its popularity. Consequently, a parking fee was introduced in the beginning of 2014. Although several examples of urban art can be found here, most people park their car here to go shopping take the train to other Flemish cities.

Deze (gemakkelijke) cache is gelegen op de parking van de Koningin Astridlaan. De – in Zweden geboren – Koningin Astrid was in de vorige eeuw Koningin der Belgen tot haar tragische dood in 1935¹. Dat ze populair was blijkt wel uit het feit dat veel straten naar haar vernoemd zijn, ook deze parking. Tot augustus 2013 was de parking in slechte toestand, maar na een korte renovatie die twee weken duurde is de parking in het centrum van Hasselt zeer populair. De stad Hasselt besloot daarop om in het begin van 2014 de parking betalend te maken. Op de parking zijn verschillende voorbeelden van urban art te vinden, al zullen de meeste mensen hier hun auto parkeren om te gaan winkelen of om te gaan werken.
