This racetrack's first meeting was held in 1862.
It holds four main events a year, 1st weekend March, last Sunday of November, event at end of December and an event 1st week January. All wish attrack crowds of 7000+.
The biggest probable claim to fame is that Sir Peter Jackson stabbled about 50 horses here while filming the Hobbit.
