Geocache Description:

A Meet & Greet Event for our gadgety, geeky cohorts.

It's time for another one, finally, and this one will be part of Groundspeak's Maker Madness!

From the Maker Madness site:

Finding a great geocache can make for an awe-inspiring adventure, but those adventures do not magically appear on their own. They are concocted inside the brilliant mind of a Geocache Maker. This crazy thing we call geocaching would simply not exist without the people who channel their creativity and innovative spirit into making great experiences for others.
From March 28 – April 7, geocachers around the world will join together to celebrate the people in their community who make geocaching possible. We call this celebration Maker Madness. We’re calling all Geocache Makers (and folks who want to celebrate their favorite Makers) to host events to celebrate geocache creation and to inspire the next generation of geocache makers. Anyone who logs an “Attended” at a registered Maker Madness event will earn a Maker Madness souvenir.

Reading deeper into the forums, creating unknown caches would certainly count as something to celebrate. So, come join us, have fun, and learn or share a bit about puzzling caches. You don't have to be a Geek to come! In fact, if you're still searching for your inner geek, this might just be the thing for it.

This is a low-key get-together with the aim of sharing. In the past we've covered all sorts on topics, including puzzle hints. Whether you can field-strip your GPSr blindfolded in under 30 seconds or maybe have a hard time just changing the batteries, this is for you. We can all spend some time on Puzzle Caches. Tricks for solving, or even just where to start. Bring your info on that puzzle that's been driving you nuts. No fair just giving someone the answer, though (unless it's your puzzle, of course)! We've been known to give away secrets on our own puzzles.

We'll be bringing our various devices, our laptops and more. Bring yours, your tricks and your questions. If we gather enough people, newer cachers will have no problem finding someone to ask questions of, and old hands will have no problem finding someone to show off to.

Bruce, Alisandra and Bella the GeoDog all moved to Petaluma last year. It took some doing to find something that would measure up to Union Hotel in Santa Rosa, but we think we may have pulled it off with Cattlemans in Petaluma. They're willing to give it a try and let us have their banquet room and order individually off of the menu. They have a kids menu, saloon menu and, of course, steaks: http://www.cattlemens.com/menu.htm

Sunday, 6 April, 2014, 3:30 pm at Cattlemans Restaurant
5012 Petaluma Blvd. North
Petaluma
(707) 763-4114

We have the room starting at 3:30 will start promptly by 4:00pm (but, if you're late, just jump right in). You may order what you wish (or not) and eat at your own pace.

PLEASE give us a Will Attend with the number of people attending.

Oh, and five stars!?! Well, maybe not for the true-blue geeks, but there are some technophobes among us. (Yes, technophobia is a real word.)
