Geocache Description:

Purchased in 1937, opened in 1938, Camp Opemikon is owned and operated by Scouts Canada, Voyageur Council.  The camp has over 200 acres of land and touches three lakes.  The name "Opemikon" is a compound:  Ope means "by the way or near to" and Miikan means "road or trail."

An easy park and grab.  Please drive carefully, as the camp is a busy place, especially on weekends and during the summer. Turn off the road and park in the Camp Opemikon parking lot nearest to the grey stone sign (you may be asked by the Camp Ranger what you are up to, but she knows about the hide).  The cache contains several Scouting crests, so the rule is take one/leave one.  Caching Scouters are also requested to arrive a couple of extra crests to stock the cache so no youth will miss out.  Although the cache owners (the 28th Ottawa Scouts) visit Ope annually, any and all cache TLC between our visits will be much appreciated.
