The RNZAF had nine B(I)12 and two T.13 English Electric Canberras which operated from Ohakea after 1959. The Canberras saw operational service in Malaysia with 75 Squadron and then 14 Squadron.
The aircraft was a high altitude bomber with a single pilot and a bomb aimer/navigator below.
Three aircraft were lost in service.
The Canberras were phased out of service in July 1970 and, with the exception of one, were sold to the Indian Air Force.
One Canberra is stored at Wigram awaiting restoration.
