The RNZAF first ordered Aerospace Industries CT-4B Airtrainer’s in 1975. The Air Force had a total of 19 CT-4Bs.
In 1998 The Aerospace Industries CT-4E Airtrainer aircraft took over from its predecessor.
Their role is basic pilot training and they are also the aircraft for the Air Force’s Red Checkers display team.
The aircraft are to be replaced by eleven Beechcraft T-6C Texan IIs in 2015.
