Mosquito (Manawatu) Traditional Cache

This is the third in our “Fixed Wing Aircraft of RNZAF Base Ohakea” series.

Cache is small so BYOP.

Both 14 and 75 Squadron operated DH98 Mosquitos post-WW2 from Ohakea. In total 80 were used from Ohakea, with 50 of these being reconditioned WW2 aircraft. The aircraft were used for reconnaissance, interception, ground strike, and search and rescue.

The Mosquito was retired in 1952 and replaced by the DH Vampire.
