Geocache Description:

The first interment took place in 1893, making it the districts third oldest cemetery and continues to be used on a regular basis by the same early colonial families as the resting place for departed loved ones.


The Cemetery has colonial charm with its rustic stone pillars and historic graves with many prominent early settlers from the Shannon Area buried in the Cemetery.

Please treat the cemetery with the respect that it deserves. There is no need to interfere with any of the graves or plaques to find this cache.

Entry to the Shannon Cemetery is from:

Brown Street, Shannon.

Located 1.5 km’s south west of Shannon Township.

The cache is a 200ml sistema container that has a log book. Please bring a writing stick with you, although there is a pencil provided when placed

Please log trackable, coins if you retrieve or drop off.

You must sign the log book for each individual cacher. Finds logged not corresponding with the logbook will be (Removed). Please make sure cache is well covered before you leave.
