In a very secluded spot, about a mile from the sea, this church has its origins in the 10th century, when it was constructed from timber. The present structure was built circa 1107 and restored in 1845.
It has a beautiful ancient 'eagle' lectern carved from a single block of wood.
It contains monuments to Sir Norman Lockyer, whose Observatory stands a few miles away, and Sir Ambrose Fleming, who invented the first thermionic valve and also developed the 'left-hand' rule for electric motors.
The is space for a few cars immediately outside the church, and for those visiting the church, which is open during the day, there is a car park a short distance down the hill.
The cache is not hidden in the church grounds, but a short distance away. There are also lovely views down towards the sea from the cache location. There is room for a few small swaps and there is a badge for the FTF.
Please bring your own pen.
Congratulations to Repsov for FTF
