just a new series to commemorate the new facility.
I have spent many over nights in the old building during flood season filling sandbags. The most memorable was the flood season of 08 when I spent several days filling sand bags and throwing sand bags at various locations around town trying to save city utilities which were eventually over run anyway. it ended when the facility was sinking and then my house. I had to get two pallets of sandbags while the building was flooding to try to save my house which eventually became 6 feet under anyway. That was the last sand bag I filled or threw. in earlier years I remember getting a spotlight as the news crews were filming me filling sandbags into the wee hours of the morning when Mayor Pate stopped by to interview me. When I asked me if there was anything he could do to help I replied, " Yes, I could really go for some donuts and coffee." about 30 minutes later he came back and handed me 2 dozen donuts and a couple trays of coffee which I shared with my cobaggers. I was very impressed that even after the camera was gone he drove out of his way to get the snacks and hand delivered them. Guess what? its flood season again.
