Bridge of Sighs Traditional Cache
Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions
in our disclaimer.
The bridge spans a stretch of water called Three Pools Waterway.
During the 18th Century to the East of the Southport lay an enormous Glacial mere, stretching from Churchtown to Rufford. This was drained by Thomas Fleetwood in 1692, by cutting the Sluice and Three Pools Waterway to drain the water into the River Ribble. What remains is a fertile agricultural plain. Southport and District Angling Association runs from the Crossens drain.
The cache is a small canister, please take care when accessing the cache due to the deep water. Please replace the lid securely before replacing. This is a busy location so much stealth is needed. Do not block any gates or park on private land. There is street parking nearby.
