This adventure is a short hike or bike ride from Lorraine Park and Trailhead or the Monastery of the Holy Spirit.

The Monastery of the Holy Spirit is located near Conyers, Georgia, in the peaceful Arabia Mountain National Heritage Area. It’s a Trappist monastery that has been around since 1944, providing a serene place for prayer and reflection. The monastery is surrounded by 2,300 acres of beautiful land, perfect for hiking and exploring.

One of the highlights of the monastery is its Bonsai Garden, which showcases a variety of miniature trees like Japanese maples, pines, and boxwoods. Visitors can explore this tranquil garden to appreciate the art of bonsai and see some beautifully nurtured trees. The Abbey Garden Center is right next door, where you can find bonsai trees, gardening tools, and even take workshops to learn how to care for your own bonsai. The monastery has long been dedicated to the art of bonsai, making it a unique spot in Georgia.

While searching for this geocache, keep in mind that it doesn’t lead you directly to a bonsai tree. However, the cache pays homage to the art of bonsai, reflecting the spirit of creativity and patience that goes into cultivating these miniature trees. Visitors can explore the Bonsai Garden, visit the Abbey Garden Center, and take part in spiritual retreats or services. It’s a peaceful place to relax, learn, and even take a break while enjoying the nearby geocaching adventure.
