På slutten av den siste istiden var området rundt Trondheimsfjorden dekket av et ca 2km tykt lag av is. Tyngden av denne isen presset jordskorpa ned. Når så isen begynte å smelte, begynte landet å stige igjen, i begynnelsen ca 8 cm pr år, men minkende ned til ca 25 mm pr år. Når isen var borte fortsatte landet å stige, men den stigningen blir gradvis mindre. Men man regner med at landet fortsatt kan stige i ca 10 000 år til. På de mest utsatte stedene vil det si ca 50 meter med stigning.
På plakatene langs denne multien kan du se hvor langt fra dagens havlinje du er i høydemeter og hvor lenge det er siden vannet stod på dette tidspunktet. Underveis får du finne tallene slik at du kan regne ut oppgaven og få finne boksen som ligger på N63 AA.BB.C E10 CD.DFF. God tur oppover i løypa :)


At the end of the last Ice Age, the area around Trondheimsfjorden was covered by an approximately 2km thick layer of ice. THis ice was so heavy that the crust was pushed down. When the ice began to melt, the land began to rise again, in the beginning about 8 cm per year but dwindling down to about 25 mm per year. When the ice was gone the land continued to rise, but the rate of increase became gradually smaller. However, it is estimated that the land may continue to rise for about 10,000 years. In the worst affected areas, this means approximately 50 meters of ascent.
