Geocache Description:

THERE IS NOTHING AT THE LISTED COORDINATES !!!

This Cache is the Bonus Cache for the Galena Generals Series.

During the Civil War 9 men from Galena earned the rank of General. The Galena Generals Series is dedicated to them. Each General has his own cache. Six Generals are located along the Galena River Trail as it heads south from Galena to the Junction. The other three Generals are located in Buehler's Preserve which is at the end of the section of the trail heading east from the Meeker Street walk bridge. The Trail is continuous through town and can be seen by the railroad tracks passing Grant Park.

This is the Bonus Cache. Inside the plastic lid of each General’s inner cache container there is a letter and number. Put them all together to get the coordinates for this cache, Abraham Lincoln – Commander in Chief.

As you may know, the President of the US is also the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces. Abraham Lincoln is the first president to take an active role in this capacity. He had military experience as a Captain in the Black Hawk War. During the Civil War he had a telegraph installed in the White House so he could have current information about the war. He took an active role in making war decisions and often visited active battle fields. He cared about the war and the men who fought it.
