Geocache Description:

This section of road locally known as "The Glen" used to be part of the A75 Gretna to Stranraer trunk road.  It was a bottleneck road which snaked up a wooded glen and afforded no overtaking opportunity by way of solid double white lines for it's duration and had a terrible reputation with many accidents including many HGV roll overs. Thankfully it was replaced in 1999 with a 1.3 mile stretch of Dual Carriageway and 1 mile westbound overtaking lane. The new road claimed the title of "The Glen" after this section of road was declassified and closed at the western end to vehicle traffic, allowing only local access to residential property and agricultural land.

The cache is a 35mm film cannister with log only so please take a pen or pencil. It is hidden in the base of a large tree at the side of the road adjacent to an old passing place where you can park. It is a simple cache and dash. The road is popular with dog walkers and cyclists so watch out for muggles. Although this is not a through road there is the occasional vehicle so care should be taken.
