Santa Brigida wurde Ende des 16. Jahrhunderts gegründet und hieß zunächst Sataute - Palme. Hier gab es immer reichlich Wasser, beste klimatische Bedingungen und fruchtbare Böden für die Landwirtschaft, so dass Wein, Getreide, Gemüse und Zuckerrohr angebaut wurden. In den Gärten der Stadt findet man auch Mandel- , Orangen-, Oliven- und Avocadobäume. Im Parque Agricola Guiniguada kann man die lange Tradition der Landwirtschaft besichtigen.
