Bullet Car Traditional Cache

The Bullet Car is an abandoned wreck, a 1941 Chrysler Business Sedan found a few miles from the ghost town of Bridal Veil, Oregon.

The Bullet Car can be reached via trails and old logging roads.  You cannot drive here!  To reach it, drive to the Bridal Veil exit of I-84 and turn right at the top of the ramp.  Look the Palmer Mill Road where the overflow parking is for Angel's Rest.  Climb steeply for two miles until you see a pulloff on the left.  Park here by the concrete barrier.  Continue on foot past the barrier along Palmer Mill Road, a historic logging road which once led to the town of Palmer and site of a huge logging operation 100 years ago.   There is a steep game trail on the left a few dozen yards up Palmer Mill.  You can follow this uphill to an old road grade and continue uphill until you reach a well defined abandoned road.  Turn left.

You can also reach the abandoned road by hiking up Palmer Mill until you see an old rusty gate on the left.

Follow the abandoned road up hill.  It will turn right and level off. From here, the old road is covered in logs thanks to USFS decommissioning of Old Smith Road. The route is an obstacle course of logs. Walking off trail to one side of the road may be easier than following the road. Turn left at the wide junction. The going is rough at first but gets easier.  The Bullet Car is off to the right further down this wide cut.
