PEACE SIGN SERIES #35: Technology From the '60s Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

CaptainKevin: Thanks to the 224 finders who have solved and found this one as well as the hundreds more who found the original. After six years of fun, many COs have moved on or got out of the game and it is too much to continue to maintain the series. Also, by ending the series, we can open up space for new cachers to place new hides and keep the game fresh for all.

Cache on and Peace Out[:)]

Geocache Description:

The above coordinates are not where you will find the cache.

This is 1 of 42 puzzle caches in a series that were created to commemorate GeoWoodstock VIII. There is a Final of this Series that you can find, if you feel inclined to do so. The Waypoint for the Series Final is GC24NBA.

You will need to find the 21 numbers attached to 21 of the 42 puzzles used to create this series. These numbers will be placed on the logbook of the puzzle caches, so WATCH FOR THEM! This cache may, or may not have one of those numbers in it. You will need to have signed the logbook of all 21 of the correct caches to be able to legally claim a find on the Series Final. Good Luck!

The decade of the Sixties brought many memorable and important changes to our society. Most of us probably think of things like the Civil Rights movement, the Vietnam War with the associated anti-war movement, the "counter-culture", the new trends in music including the "British Invasion", the assassinations of a President and then his brother who was also running for President, our American hero Neil Armstrong walking on the moon and many other things. As I look back on the technology developments of the period, I am struck by the many technical advances that took place then that have changed so much of the way we live, work and play today.

The table below is a list of each year of the decade from 1960 through 1969. Each year relates to a particular technological advance that occurred in that year. On the right is a numbered list of those milestones, but not necessarily in the same order as the list of years. In order to solve for the final cache location, you will need to match up the year with the appropriate technological achievement.

1960=A 1. Kevlar synthetic fiber is developed
1961=B 2. The first ATM was opened in Barclays Bank, London
1962=C 3. Arpanet, the research-oriented prototype of the internet, was introduced
1963=D 4. The first working laser was demonstrated at Hughes Research Laboratories
1964=E 5. The first successful Minicomputer, Digital Equipment's 12-bit PDP-8, was marketed
1965=F 6. The first computer video game, Spacewar!, was invented
1966=G 7. The first public demonstration of the computer mouse
1967=H 8. Unimate, the first industrial robot, was introduced
1968=I 9. Touch-tone telephones introduced
1969=J 10. Electronic fuel injection for cars was invented

The final location is at:

N47 (G-I)(B+F).(A+C-G)(J+H-E)(D)

W122 (C-E)(D-B).(E+F)(E+H-I)(C)
