Geocache Description:

Decades ago, the students from the Augusta and Karridale Primary Schools planted trees at this location. The month was that of the winter solstice, the annual shortest day of sunlight in the Southern Hemisphere. At that time in Australia, Bob Hawke was Prime Minister, and the Empress of Australia made its final voyage between Melbourne and Tasmania. In popular culture the song Don’t You (Forget About Me) by Simple Minds was climbing the ARIA Charts after the recent release of the movie The Breakfast Club, Micheal Jordan was Rookie of the Year, the sunken Titanic would soon be discovered, and though no one knew it yet, Ferris Bueller’s actual day off was in the same month and the same year as the planting. So when did this restoration project take place?

AXCD = the year of restoration

EF = the month of restoration

Z = half of (X+D)

Use this information to unlock the coordinates below to find the first stage of the cache. You’re looking for a black electrolyte tablet container with a top that can easily pop off with your thumb (not a screw top). Inside is another simple equation to find the coordinates for the final stage of the cache, so bring your notes with you to help figure this out. GZ is a medium-sized camo screw top container, suitable for trades and TB’s. The terrain along your journey is mostly flat with enough open space and pathways to get yourself to all stages without having to go through any dense bush.

First cache is located at:

S 34 AZ.ZD(C-A)

E 115 EZ.ZD(C-D)

The area surrounding this cache has been a favourite of mine to visit for nature walks and exploration. The grounds are public reserve, and on the western edge you will find evidence of shire use (piles of dirt, tree stumps, etc). There are a number of tracks that cut through the property, and there is plenty of open space to explore. If you are lucky, you might see or hear some big roos milling about. Please CITO if you can.

The clues to this cache were edited November 2019. Locations of multi-cache have remained the same.
