Viaducto La Polvorilla es una monumental obra de ingeniería y marca el final del recorrido del Tren a las Nubes. Construido para superar una gran quebrada en la puna salteña a 4.220 metros sobre el nivel del mar, con 225 metros de largo en curva y con una altura máxima de 63 metros, el Viaducto La Polvorilla es tanto una atracción turística como el mismo Tren a las Nubes. Este imponente puente de acero ideado por el ingeniero estadounidense Richard Maury forma parte del Ferrocarril General Belgrano y es uno de los viaductos más altos del mundo. Fue inaugurado el 7 de noviembre de 1939. Ésto es el final del recorrido del Tren a las Nubes y la formación se detiene sobre el viaducto antes de retroceder y permitir la bajada de los pasajeros para observar el puente y la quebrada. Por debajo del viaducto pasa la Ruta Nacional 40 y presenciar la llegada del tren desde abajo es tanto o más emocionante que la excursión en el propio tren. The cache is a small plastic container with log and 1 small toy. It is magnetic and hidden from view. You may need to see spoiler to find it. Also the canyon is deep, so great GPS accuracy will be difficult. You will need to climb a tiny bit.
