An event of Olympic Proportions!
On Saturday, July 19th, geoAthletes are invited to participate in an event that illustrates just how grueling the sport of geocaching can be! There will be games and contests for athletes (and spectators) of all ages.
Come join the FUN!
Port Royal Park has a picnic shelter, washroom facilities, a playground, and lots of caches nearby. There is street parking in the area. The picnic shelter seats about 60 people, but you might want to bring your own lawnchair for comfort.
Metro Vancouver Geocachers will provide some drinks and snacks, but please bring your own picnic lunch.
We ask that you post your "will attend" by July 10th so we can estimate the supplies we will need.
Athlete registration (a.k.a. sign-in) begins at 10:00 a.m. Opening ceremonies and lighting of the cauldron starts at 10:30, with games to follow immediately.
The closing ceremonies will be held at 3:00 pm.
Games and contests are geared toward demonstrating your geocaching prowess, your ability to strategize, and most of all, TEAMWORK!
Test your skills on games such as:
*Team Caching (with a twist) (ages 16+)
*Cross the Creek to the Cache (ages 7+)
*Closest to the Pin (anyone who can operate a GPSr)
*Cache Float (all ages)
*Convert the Muggles (all ages)
There may even be some puzzle fun for those of us who are *ahem* less athletically and more cerebrally inclined.
Oh, and there will be prizes.
