Geocache Description:

This simple multi is situated on public open space located close to a popular eating and shopping venue for tourists and locals. This piece of land has been the subject of prolonged dispute and eventually court action. In years past the land was used for flower and vegetable farming and became public open space when the nearby De Goede Hoop Estate was established. At one stage it was used by the locals for horse riding lessons. As the nearby business development expanded the area became used for a car park as well as various small businesses, including a nursery and a car wash operation, and eventually the area was tarred and set out as a formal car park. This turned out to be in contravention of the land use zoning and provisions of the agreement signed when the area was initially developed. Litigation by the local environmental conservation group led to the removal of the tarred areas and businesses, and the area has been changed back to an informal garden area as required by the original development plan for the area.

The cache is a quick two stage multi that should be easy to retrieve on all but very heavy use times at the local eating venues, when stealth and patience may be required. Please replace the containers neatly as found.

November 2018 : After extensive re-development, this time with suitable consultation, the area is back in use as a car park and the original feature housing the first stage is back, albeit in a different part of the area. The second stage is also back in a similar position to the original hide and once again the stages may require stealth depending on the level of use of the area at the time.
